Mechanical modelling of microwave sintering and experimental validation on an alumina powder

Microwave sintering (MW) allows fast heating (?30 min) and densification of ceramic materials, like alumina Al2O3. In order to predict the final material properties (density, size grain size) mechanical SOVS (Skorohold Olevsky Viscous Sintering) model is adapted validated for conventional alumina. The implemented on ABAQUS with UMAT subroutine. Secondly, modified microwave by adapting shear viscosity Arrhenius type law. Pre-exponential exponential coefficients are MW sintering. calculated relative densities compared experimental results from difference remains under 3%. identified reveal a decrease in around 10 an increase up 50 times boundaries diffusion coefficient.
